There comes a time when one realizes their passion is paying them and that is considered a professional.
Joining the 7-Eleven Cycling Team from 1988 - 1990 I served as a domestique, racing with iconic cyclists. These years taught me what it meant to suffer through stage races, to represent a team in Europe, and continue when I thought there was nothing left. At the time, I had no concept that I was part of a team that would end up carrying American cycling onto the world stage.
As the 7-Eleven Team folded, it became the Motorola Cycling Team. I rode for Motorola from 1991 - 1994 along some of the sport's biggest names and on a team that defined an era in American cycling. We faced brutal schedules, relentless competition, and thousands of miles. These years taught me lessons in teamwork, discipline, resilience, and integrity.
